Location Osaka, Ōsaka, Japan Job ID R-220123 Date posted 01/09/2025

Job Description

  • The Strategic Business Partner plays a pivotal role within the Customer Experience & IT (CET) team—supporting the development and execution of complex, transformative business strategies to improve performance, modernization, and customer engagement across enabling domains, including HR, Finance, Wholesaler, and other enabling functions. The SBP leverages deep business acumen and project management expertise, partnering with HR, Finance, Wholesalers,  and other enabling function teams to realize impactful transformation initiatives. Rather than focusing on deep technical delivery, the SBP is expected to steer strategic planning, cultivate broad business partnerships, and coordinate multiple stakeholders for successful implementation of forward-looking strategies and solutions.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Leverage strong business acumen and understanding of organizational goals, business dynamics, and user needs to define and drive transformative initiatives.
  • Partner with business unit managers and domain leads—including HR, Finance, and Wholesaler teams—to execute strategic plans and deliver high-impact transformation projects.
  • Coordinate and engage cross-functional stakeholders, resolve challenges, and adapt project plans to meet business objectives.
  • Support annual and mid-term planning cycles by identifying and advocating investments, technology solutions, and process improvements relevant to enabling domain objectives.
  • Encourage and enable adoption of new business processes, performance metrics, digital tools, and system enhancements across enabling domains.
  • Develop and clearly communicate the system vision and strategy for HR, Finance, Wholesaler, and other enabling domains, ensuring alignment with business growth and transformation goals.
  • Lead the design, development, maintenance, and execution of comprehensive system roadmaps for enabling domains, emphasizing system modernization, rationalization, and the replacement of legacy platforms to drive improved performance and customer engagement.
  • Lead the management and prioritization of the system backlog, incorporating business user requests, IT requirements, and strategic initiatives.
  • Break down large transformation initiatives into actionable value chunks (stories), collaborating with Project Managers and application managers for successful implementation and delivery.
  • Create detailed business and system requirements by gathering input from cross-functional teams and Business Relationship Managers; ensure seamless execution and rollout of product initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships and liaise with key stakeholders—across HR, Finance, Wholesaler, and other domains—to ensure products and solutions meet specific business needs and user expectations.
  • Monitor and analyze product progress, performance, and adoption, leveraging data and key metrics to drive informed decisions and continuous improvement.
  • Design and implement targeted improvement plans for systems, ensuring technology alignment, regulatory compliance, and strategic business fit.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, new technologies, and best practices within HR, Finance, Wholesaler, and enabling business domains; apply relevant insights to the system vision and ongoing projects.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Application Managers, and Business Relationship Managers to align system initiatives with strategic objectives, achieve stakeholder engagement, and ensure delivery of business value.
